Since 1996 The PSP Association has run seven International Medical Workshops attended by leading scientists and neurologists from all over the world. The workshops take place biennially and focus on a different aspect of PSP and related research.

IMW 2009 Delegates 2 - web.jpgLeading experts from across the world met to discuss topics of key importance in the care and treatment of PSP and CBD at The PSP Association's seventh International Medical Workshop held at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London on Tuesday 7th July 2009.

By bringing together medical and research experts on PSP and related areas The PSP Association encourages the sharing of important information, the cross fertilisation of ideas, and promotes collaborative research effort aimed at improving the lives of people with PSP and CBD. The Association's 2007 Workshop resulted in the current joint USA and UK clinical trial which is exploring the use of lithium, a drug commonly used to treat depression, as a potential treatment of PSP.

At this year's Workshop The PSP Association aimed to identify the areas in which future research has the potential to make a big difference to the lives of people with PSP and CBD - in the short, medium and longer term. This will form the basis for developing The PSP Association's future research strategy.
