2011 Symposium

The event was chaired by Dr David Oliver, Medical Director and Consultant Physician in Palliative Medicine. Leading neurologists and health and social care professionals spoke about research and support for those affected by PSP and CBD.

The Symposium was attended by carers, therapists, health and welfare professionals with an interest in PSP and CBD.

2010 Symposium

Leading neurologists and health and social care professionals spoke about research and support for those affected by PSP and CBD. The Symposium was attended by carers, therapists and health and welfare professionals with an interest in PSP and CBD.

2009 Symposium

Symposium 09 HP.jpgThe 2009 Symposium took place on 16th September in Cardiff at The Novotel Cardiff Centre, Atlantic Wharf. Leading neurologists and health and welfare professionals spoke about the latest on PSP research and support for those affected by PSP and CBD.

The Symposium was chaired by Dr. Huw Morris, Senior Lecturer in Neurology at Cardiff University and an Honorary Consultant at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff and Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport.

What are PSP and CBD and the Lithium Clinical Trials - Dr Huw Morris.

Overview of sponsored research - Dr Angela Wilson, Director of Medical Awareness and Research, The PSP Association.

Imaging and biomarkers in PSP and CBD - Dr Luke Massey, Clinical Research Fellow, Sara Koe PSP Research Centre, UCL Institute of Neurology, London.

Genetic aspects of PSP and CBD - Professor John Hardy, FRS, Reta Lila Weston Institute of Neurological Studies, and Department of Molecular Neuroscience, Institute of Neurology, University College, London

Managing Swallow with PSP and CBD - Dr Tom Hughes, Neurologist, University Hospital of Wales, with a research interest in swallowing in neurological disease.

Caring - Mrs Sylvia Denton, CBE, former President of the Royal College of Nursing, specialist nurse in cancer care and co-author of ‘Caring in the Comfort of Home'.

Hospice and Palliative Care - Dr Jo Hayes, Consultant in Palliative Medicine, Marie Curie Hospice, Penarth.

Eye Movement in PSP and CBD - Dr Adam Zermansky, Consultant Neurologist, Hope Hospital, Manchester.

Balance and Mobility issues PSP and CBD - Ms Lori Quinn, Department of Physiotherapy, Cardiff University.

The Future of Palliative Care in Neurological Diseases - Baroness Finlay, Professor of Palliative Medicine, Cardiff University School of Medicine, and Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Dying Well.

 

2008 Symposium

Over 80 delegates attended, including the CEOs of PSP France and CurePSP.
